hello to all group users... (no pun intended) Just a quick question about preset edit in my MP-7. I'm trying to make a layered kick & bass combo out of the same instrument. Is there a way to layer a single kick over the keypads. So my bass will have the same kick layered over the entire keys. Just let me know if ther is a way to make this happen... peace, dopeboydj

Hmm, unfortunately I don't think this is possible. The drums samples used
in the presets are tied to individual keys, so there's no way to
automatically transpose it up and down the keyboard. One workaround would
be to set up a preset that uses only that kick on each layer (set the key
range accordingly), and then just transpose each layer by +1. This will
get you that kick sound to play on 4 keys, if you used Preset Link mode
and added 2 more of the same presets (transposed accordingly), you could
get a full octave key range out of that that kick sound.

It depends. If you use one of the kick instruments that has the same kick stretched across the keyboard, you can turn on non-transpose, and then the sample will play at unity pitch across its range. Try it and see on your drum presets (third press of the Chorus/Delay button will get you to the screen. why we didn't group it with Tuning, i have no idea). If there's a range where the kick stays the same, you should be able to transpose it to the right range (using transpose, not tuning) and add it as a layer to your bass preset. -Aaron --- dopeboydj <dopeboydj@...> wrote: > hello to all group users... What happens if you use non-transpose on a kit that has different instruments mapped across the keyboard? Aaron Eppolito wrote:

All non-transpose does is say "don't hook Key to Pitch". In the Proteus line, Key to Pitch is a hidden patchcord (sort-of). Try this: take a blank preset and set non-transpose to true for layer 1. then, scroll through instruments to find areas where the sound is the same. any range that is, you can use that instrument in your preset (transposed to the right area of the keyboard). PS. this is also a good way to hear where the instruments are multi-sampled... -Aaron __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Address AutoComplete - You start.
