Several questions

Several questions

2002-01-22 by shredbabe

Hi all (again),

I now own the box for a week and I'm about to return it. I've been a
frequent reader of the group and I want to make it work but the same
questions keep on coming up and everyone tries really hard (thanks!)
but I still haven't the answers.

I have used a lot of gear (Nord Micro, TB-303, Access Virus, MC-505
and others) which aren't easy of use but this box leaves me with a
lot of unanswered questions. Here they are again, please answer them
extensively as I feel like a complete moron.....

1. Although I've set all channels to INT, all my Roland SP-808
settings are getting mixed up (volume, program- and bank changes,
pan) whenever I switch patterns and press play.

2. A complete empty pattern in 000-0 gets filled with data with the
last pattern of choice when I switch from 000-0 to ie. 122-3 and the
hard back to 000-0. Reverting to saved doesn't solve it. Is this why
I should save a multisetup next to a pattern?

3. Global settings as Mix Output aren't remembered.

4. My SP-808 responds to any CC but it doen't respond to MIDI-notes.
EXT gives me sound of the XL7 but no midi is received.

Please help as I'm about to hand it in as I don't feel that it's
working for me.

Thanks and regards!
Richard

Note that the XL-7 starts to load patterns as soon as they're selected and it
plays the initial settings. If some of the patterns along the way to the one
you want are set to both or external, they could be transmitting to your
gear.

I'm not sure I understand this one, but it might be related to the above
item. If 000 is empty, and you select 122 (which sets up the presets for
122) then back to 000 (which still has no data), you'll be left with the
presets from 122. If you want to have an initial buch of settings to start
off with when you have a blank sequence, that would be a good use of a
multisetup.

Mix output and FX settings should be saved with the pattern for every track
that has notes or other data recorded on it.

Again, I'm not sure I understand this. Might you have some sort of midi
loop? What does your setup look like and what are you trying to do?
