Better way to read messages of that group???

Better way to read messages of that group???

2004-04-07 by u_ri_p_ui

Sorry for bothering again, but is there a better way to read the
messages of that group using the yahoo interface? It's really
terrible to frequently get that sponsering message just after
clicking on a message. And the search function is useless 'cause it
is only for a short range of messages, not for the whole archive:
tell me a way to quickly find a message in 2002 about "xyz" using
that local search function?

So, is there a way to read the database of that group in a better way
like newsgroup readers or so? Perhaps there also is a way
to "download" the database of that group and read it offline with a
viewer of your choice (like newsgroups)?

Are there other newsgroups/groups/forums/lists dealing with EMU XX-7
command stations?

Thanks and cheers,
Uri

I hate Yahoo. I would be willing to admin a group at www.ampfea.org, but
only if it was a group majority decision. Ampfea, for those who may not
know, is a great community/mailing list service for electronic artists.

Yes, 19 messages per page. So you only have to scroll through 728,42
pages to read all messages. ;-)) Not so say anything about searching
contents. I hope you get my point here. ;-)) A nice vBulletin base
forum with great search function would be nice. There doesn't exist
any forum for the xx-7 command boxes. *sniff* Only this group with
great contents in the postings but horrible search and view
functionality...

A lot of thanks for your offer. I've started a poll asking for that
interest. Hope to get enough people.

You're completely right, ampfea has a much better interface than
yahoo. Especially the downloading feature (gzipped files) is, what
I've been looking for.

Unfortunately, there will be perhaps no way to "rescue" the posting
from here. *sniff* Nearly 14000 messages into the void. Is there
really no way to get them into ampfea???

Cheers,
Uri

Unless you have another email app like Outlook or Lotus, I don't know of
another way. It is annoying though, I'll give you that.
