Hi, layering the same synth sounds always cause flanging effects, how can I change? Christoph -- +++ NEU bei GMX und erstmalig in Deutschland: TÜV-geprüfter Virenschutz +++ 100% Virenerkennung nach Wildlist. Infos: http://www.gmx.net/virenschutz [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Let me make sure I understand what you are ssaying: When you copy L1 to an empty layer (say L2, for example), you get a flanging effect that wasn't there before without changing any other parameters?

Normally you copy a layer to make variations like pitch offset, if youd use 2 identical tracks - whats that for? Anyway - you could apply a little delay offset to one of the layers [if it is a one shot sound, otherwise you might get a chorused efect] Turby _________________________________________________________________ STOP MORE SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

I tested a square wave on a P2K synth engine E-Mu [XL-1]. Sure enough, when I got rid of any chorus/flange/other possible causes of auditory shift [effects processor, filter, chorus, patchcords, etc.] and doubled the layer, successive key presses demonstrated harmonic variation in the note played. It sounds like there is some phase shift between the two lawyers at the instant each layer is turned on. If there was any drift between the two layers once the note sounded, my ears couldn't hear it. Maybe that's why E-Mu synth sounds are so phatt! I am not sure if that's what you meant by flanging effect or not. Hope this helps. --Steve_the_purist --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@p...> wrote:

Have you checked that the pitch and fine pitch parameters are set to 0 for
both layers, and that Chorus is off?

I've gotten this effect when linking same or similar drum kits. I have not really noticed it on other things, but the drums can create a definate flange. What presets and instrument layers are you using? Here's a towel and a be, rEalm _____ I I I I be """"" alright so the towel could use some work.. --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Mark Fitt <mark@t...> wrote:

Hi,
you are right I used different Fine Pitch, cause trying to simulate PWM by
the Audity PWM Waves, but I
remembered it using a layer one octave deeper, too
Thanx,
Christoph
