Saving Presets (am I overwriting factory?)

Saving Presets (am I overwriting factory?)

2004-03-20 by metalflakk

Hi,
On my Px-7, when I create a new 4 layer 'preset' and then go to save it, I can't seem to
find a blank place to put it. (Unlike songs where there are "empty" slots.) Am I, then,
overwriting the factory patches when I save over "User" "kit:stadium" for example?

Also, I stuck an XL-v2 rom in my PX-7 (which is incredible!) but I can't access any of the
XL-7 patterns/songs like I can the PX-7's... Are songs and patterns not programmed on
the rom itself? Would switching the rom slots, (moving the XL-v2 to slot '1') make the
command station have the patterns, songs, programming, ect of an XL-7?

Also, (finally) in the "presets edit" menu there are many synths that I cant find under the
"mode/view" presets catagory and so can't seem to use, like the Audity patches, ect...(ie.
"Audity 2" "gtr: Power 2"...) are these just the sampling bits and not complete presets, or
can I move them to the usable presets catagory?

Thanks, I've kind of been wondering about these things for a while, and would hate to
mess up my [beautiful] px-7. This looks like a cool active group for Emu

No, it's a user preset. All the user presets are initialized with
duplicate copies of the factory presets (available by scrolling to the
'DRUM' presets in your case).

Download them from the files section or from the original CD that came
with your unit. They are not stored on the ROM. Careful though,
you'll want to alter their default location in eLoader so as not to
overwrite your PX-7 patterns.

Huh? Are you talking about instruments (second page in the preset edit
menu)? If you can see them, you can use them. If you're not hearing
an instrument you've selected, it's possible you have a synth parameter
mis-set (like key range or vol). Try using the blank template as a
starting ground (preset "127.3").

Really the only factory data that you can't easily get back are the
patterns and songs. To restore those, you have to use eLoader and have
the original CD (or files section in this group).
