MP7 & Sampler(akai s300xl)?

MP7 & Sampler(akai s300xl)?

2004-03-01 by Micahel Pierce

Hello All

I have had my mp7 for a week now and learning pretty
quickly, I have a akai s3000xl for which I want to do
sample based music also. I know the mp7 doesn't have
inputs for sequencing samples from the s3000xl. I
would have to use midi to control playing samples from
my sampler. Since the actual sounds are coming from
the sampler, what other equipment would I need to mix
sounds from the sampler and mp7? I don't have a
computer capable of handling this yet, is there any alternative?

I think you need a mixer, or maybe I am misunderstanding you.You can also use mp7's sub outs to input 2 stereo chanels and its gonna be audable on mp7 mains(its in the manual) but without any effect on the sound.I think the hardware mixer is the way to go.

hoppe this helps

Ok, I would have my outs from sampler and mp7 connected to the mixer?
What is more common using a mixer, of software and a computer for
that type of thing? Any recommendations on a mixer for a person on a
budget.

Thanks

Man- all you're talking about is mixing 2 soundsources
together-
That's all- using a computer for that is riduculous.
All you need is a mixer, or as I use it (and what he
said)- get a send-receive cable and use the mp7's
subouts as inputs.

It's in the manual, and it works just fine.
I do this with my sampler, and it makes for a very
compact setup that fits in a cd-mixer case :)

hey there,

for a begginner on a budget, all i gotta say is BEHRINGER. you can immediately get
started, in the $30-100 dollar range, and someday when you have too much gear, or
can afford a real mixer, its a painless upgrade. plus, despite what people try to tell
you, behringer sells amazing gear at the price.

i would go for that one. one of my buddies started with one of these, and when he
got a nice computer set up, he used it as a simple volume control for his monitors.

Re: MP7 & Sampler(akai s300xl)?

2004-03-02 by Soul Brother #1

I am a beginner indeed, I have been messing with a sp-303 and dr.202
drum machine for about a year, so I have some of the basics, I
decided to step it up a bit so I got the s3000xl, and have been
learning that for about two months, of course I need a sequencer to
go along with it so a week ago a got the mp7, from what I can tell it
is a very deep machine and it will take a while to learn and master,
so I am patient, I did get both of these items off of ebay, and now I
will look for mixer since that is a way to go.

That depends what the "long run" is for you-
If you end up getting a shitload of different boxes
then yeah, you're gonna need a mixer or 3, but I went
through the GAS phase *long* ago and have returned to
simplicity.
There's really not too much that you can't do with an
xx7 and a sampler.

Totally! I too went through a phase of having way too much gear (bringing
it live too), and now I can do pretty much everything with the PX-7 and a
sampler as well. Wish I wouldn't have sold my S3000XL now....
