Hey again, Where are E-MU products made? Japan? America? If they're made in America, my Customs problems have been solved! Fab

Manufacturing and assembly used to be in Scotts Valley, California. At least when I was out there it was. --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "Fab Claxton" <fabclaxton@y...> wrote:

My almost 2 years old XL-7 is "Made In China". I just got an e-mail from E-MU stating that they are manufactured in America. They never answered my other question regarding the rumour that E-MU is discontinuing their Command Station line. --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "[cYcLoThYmIqUe]" <poumtschak@f...> wrote: > My almost 2 years old XL-7 is "Made In China". > > M2 wrote: > > Manufacturing and assembly used to be in Scotts Valley, California.

They've discontinued nearly all of their previous product lines (including ROMs and command stations, as well as all accessories for them) to pursue their new line of sound cards. All of the sounds from the old ROMs are supposedly going to be available for these cards though. /.e --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "Fab Claxton" <fabclaxton@y...> wrote: > I just got an e-mail from E-MU stating that they are manufactured in > America. epilogue0282, I'm not doubting you, but how did you find out about this info? I don't know a lot about E-MU, but from my understanding, they only introduced the Command Station line in 2001, right? Why would a company discontinue an entire line of products after only 3 years of development/availability. That's weird. Are they planning on coming out with a newer type of Command Station for these new sound cards, or are they only going to be computer based? I hate using software - I need a big piece of machinery with lots of buttons and tweakable knobs on it. :) Fab --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "epilogue0282" <yahoo@p...> wrote: > They've discontinued nearly all of their previous product lines > (including ROMs and command stations, as well as all accessories for

I don't know a lot about E-MU, but from my understanding, they only introduced the Command Station line in 2001, right? Why would a company discontinue an entire line of products after only 3 years of development/availability. >>>Shortly after the Command Stations came out, Emu's parent company Creative Labs (yes, the people that make soundblasters) laid off nearly all of their Musical Instruments staff. <<< Are they planning on coming out with a newer type of Command Station for these new sound cards, or are they only going to be computer based? >>>None of us except Emu can say for certain what their plans are, but based on the way they've been slowly phasing out the hardware support for their older products, I would say that we won't see another XX-7, and that most of their ongoing effort in the future will be PC-based. Mind you, I'm not saying this is 100% the way it will be, as I have no hard facts guaranteeing this. I'm only offering my opinion ont he matter, nothing more. But, some thigns to keep in mind: - Just because Emu is (possibly) no longer making XX-7's, doesn't mean you shouldn't get one. They still work just the same as they did last year, and all warrenties will be honored still of course. - There's no huge outstanding bugs that need to be addressed before the machine does what it claims to. Yeah, there's a few things we may wish were better, but Aaron has already said he can still do OS updates regardless. Will it happen? Well... that's not for me to say. - Keep in mind that this isn't Emu's fault at all. It's the decisions of a parent company that's forcing them to do all of this. I know through past conversations with the MI engineers there that they had a LOT of cool ideas they were planning on going forward with. Sadly, it's not their choice anymore, it's all in Creative's court now. <<< rEalm The information transmitted is intended only for the person(s)or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or legally privileged material. The 3 year warranty is hopefully still OK. But they're indeed discontinuing command stations and some roms (World expedition). This info come from a french importator of E-MU products. --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "Fab Claxton" <fabclaxton@y...> wrote: > epilogue0282, > I'm not doubting you, but how did you find out about this info?
