Freeze up Problem!

Freeze up Problem!

2004-01-28 by Bart Bral

I just joined, SO HI ALL.

I was wondering if anybody else got the problem that his/her
xx-7 freezes up.
I've got mine for about 2 week and it has
crashed at least 7 times. I've got the new OS (2.00) and i wasn't
doing anything like a sysexdump.

It might has to do with the midi out. The output LED flashes
sometimes even when there's no midi messages send (when it doesn't
even play).

Any suggestions?

thanx in advance!

BART

Mine locked up two days ago for the first time in a long while. BUT (big
one), it sounded shit hot when it froze so I powered on the PC real quick
and recorded it for about 7 minutes. Viola! Instant ambient tune for my
new CD :)

Umm, back to your question now.

Are you using an external sequencer? If so is midi thru turned off.
If not turn it off.
Also try midi panic = press midi button and home/enter button at the
same time.
There“s for sure a good reason for this.
good luck and welcome.

My machine is fairly stable but it's quite possible to lock it up
with too many arpeggios,high-order filters and controller data going
at once (at least that's what seems to be the culprit); I find if I
reduce the complexity of what I'm doing the problem stops. It's a
powerful unit but it can get confused!---

I found the "thin events" can help this alot. THat is if you add to
all of that by recording tweaks.

Thank you all for your replies,

Well mine sounded just shit, the only thing hot where my ears,
because even the main-volume pot & I/O knob(front) froze. So all 16
sequences played at once. That nearly gave me a hart-attack ;)

I wasn't the first time it froze.

Yesterday, it locked up because of that, but I knew about midi
feedback so i turned midi thru off in Cubase.

//Also try midi panic = press midi button and home/enter button
//at the same time.
Tried that but with no result.

The thing is: I haven't been recording any CC information, I just
used 2 arp's, 2&4 pole filters. (say light weight presets)

since i havn't recorded any CC messages it wouldn't be necessary
to thin them (am i right???)

Thanx all, i post any findings and will start praying it will never
freeze in summer (i mean: during a liveset)
