world rom / copy cords

world rom / copy cords

2004-01-22 by phest2k

Can anyone explain why the patchcords on the world expidition ROM are
not compliant to the xx7 knobs like they are on the MP7 pure phatt
ROM. I presume its because the W.E ROM origionates from a p2k module
with only 4 realtime controller knobs but this doesn´t explain why the
pure phatt has its cords cofigured to 16 knobs. Didn´t the pure phatt
also come from the mo´phatt with only 4 controllers?
Q.2 Why isn´t it posible to copy cords for all layers (LA->LA) from
one preset to another? V. time consuming :(
thx
:p

The sysex manual lists copy utilities. The copy preset layer
patchcord sysex allows for LA as a destination. but you can only have
one Layer as a source.

You might be able to use a set of 4 sysex commands to do L1->L1 . . .
L4->L4 in one motion. However, I am not sure if this solution would
work for you. It would take more time to write the commands than to
do it by hand.

the first time anyway! ;)

programmed into a buttonpress on, say, a Peavey
PC1600x, it might be quite handy!

The PC1600x may be handy; never had one. But for this task, I'd
guess it wouldn't save time. Each sysex command specifies source
preset, source layer, destination preset, destination layer, and
Source ROM.

Just wondering if you ever solved this one. (I assume you checked
controller assignments/settings [patchord/preset], so I didn't
mention it. If you take a look at the manuals for different gear,
they show different default controller assignment/settings.)

It´s not too much of a problem, really. It´s just that I´m used to the
phatt rom presets where the patches are fairly consistent to the
labels on the xx7 chasis, for example :
midi I is patched to the velocity amp
midi L is patched to Lfo2 rate -etc,etc,etc
 - it does what it says on the box.....
however, the world rom presets have:
the midi H patched to lfo2 rate (not amp release)
no midi contr. is patched to the velocity amp - etc
It´s just really inconsistent and takes ages to reconfigure.
Seems like the world rom was made for a different machine and I was
just curious which one.

:paul
ps: I´m really struggling to get my head around remote sysex commands.
Could you recommend some literature.I´d love to understand it but its
so tricky- my achilles heal .

The World ROM (and every other rom except XL-7, MP-7, PX-7 and POP) is
laid out for the Proteus 2000 knob layout. It's as follows:

A: Fc, B: Q, C: Shape (usually Filt env to Fc), D: Image
E: Attack, F: Decay/Rls, G: Movement (usu. panning), H: Rate (of G)
I: Velocity->Amp,  J: Vel->Fc,  K: FX A,  L: FX B

There's some variation on these (like the B3) but in general, they
follow this layout.

Thx Aaron/Steve,
Just wanted to make sure it was installed correctly.
I´ll have to free up some more user locations and do some patchwork
then :/
BTW - Some excellant sounds on this rom - well recommended.

P2K Controller defaults/ P2k knob assignments/P2k knob layouts

Aaron, thanks for the details!! I have taken the liberty of:
(1) renaming the thread for easy access via search engine (I hope!!!)
(2) reformatting your list vertically
