- I Wish E-mu would bring out an editor something like the "309Ed" which
wasent promgramed by Quasimidi, instead it was done by the users.

>>> Yeah, there's one like that for the Yamaha CS2x, and someone on the
mc505 list (Norsez) did one for the mc505 too. I'm talking to him about
what all would be involved and whether he thinks it's feasible or not for
the Emu stuff. <<<<

- Its still alittle hard to tell whether the machines is Saving , Baking
Up, stuck, Or ....

>>> ....waiting to f*ck you next time you power on? :) <<<

- All In All I Love My MP7 and wouldnt trade it for anything, even though
its a bit buggy at the moment, I'm full of hope that the Emu TechTeam
Would work it all out ;).

>>>Maybe they're just mad no one sent them cookies last time... ;) <<<

Stuff below:

There *is* a message when a unit is compacting/backing up. In the latest
software it will even allow you to 'defer' the compact/backup to a later
time. This is done for the case that you are in the middle of a
performance and you don't want to go 'offline' at that instant (the
compact/backup can take a few minutes). Of course this will mean that the
thing that you are currently trying to save won't be save-able until after
you allow the compact/backup to complete. If you power down before you
allow it to compact/backup/save, yes, your changes will be lost.

>>>Where/what is this Defer option? Are you talking about the compacting
that occurs when loading the new OS? I've never seen this before in
regular use, so I'm just curious what you mean. Also when/why does
Command Station compact and back up versus a regular save? Does it happen
in the background while the XL-7 is still playing? Just confused at to
what a back up is compared to a save. <<<

If someone can show a loss of data in other cases, please let us know.
That shouldn't happen and it is not something that we are aware of, and
therefore no fix is in the works.

>>>I'd like to say I've been trying to replicate the cases the where it
happened to me, but... :) I mean who wants to intentionally lose a bunch
of hard work, hehehe. Anyway, twice now I've had this happen to me, I'll
be working on a Pattern and associated custom Presets for a couple of
hours, and saving them many numerous times as I go. Then I power off and
go do something else. The next time I power on, all the edits to my
pattern and the Presets I made while it powered on last time are gone.
It's like the previous two hours I spent on it didn't exist. I know it
dosen't make any sense, but it's happened to me twice. It's not like the
XL-7 generates an Error Log, so I don't know what else to do to help you
guys out... Maybe we should call Scully and Moulder? :)

Regardless, this box still kicks ass! The sounds I can tweak out of this
thing are simple incredible, and it's a blast to play live too. <<<
