Re: [xl7] trying to make the XL control my external gear

Re: [xl7] trying to make the XL control my external gear

The external devices will stop and start from the controls on the XL7, but
they only play the internal patterns (with their limited sequencing
abilities) not the midi information the XL should be feeding them with.

>>>So when you press play on the XL-7, the ER-1 etc will start their own
internal sequencers, but they won't use the midi note data that the XL-7
is sending, right? What about if you set the ER-1 etc to not use ext
sync? Will that work? With the Korg series, that's the only way I can
think of to get them to not start their own sequencers...<<<

One last thing to note, whenever I save the pattern, it messes with the
preset that is called up on the EA1 and ER1 (not the DX200). I know that
the pattern will hold that information, but I don't know how much room I
need to leave at the beginning of any track so I can input this
information ? is one tick enough? Won't this mess up the
timing of the sequence?

>>>Well, without testing it, this is all speculation, but I think it WOULD
affect the timing of your sequence, but only for brief moment the very
first time that pattern plays. It won't happen everytime the pattern
loops, as long as you put the sysex on the first tick, or tick 0. I think
that 1 tick will be fine too (in terms of length).<<<

(I'll try playing with this some more tonight).

Whoops, I see those now. Too bad they didn't really make them that
much better, esp the EA1 with its total crap ADSR.....oh well guess
I am happy sticking with what I have. I DO think its cool that Korg
seems to contiune to develop their lines, and not just make one-ff
things that could be cool if they just developed.....
