Can you explain it?

Can you explain it?

2002-01-08 by heinrich22001

Hi,

I recorded midifiles (drumpatterns) from cakewalk sonar to the mp7
and saved the patterns.
1. Since then I noticed that the kickdrum on track 1 (kit preset) in
another user pattern that I programmed earlier changed to a hihat
sound. I never changed a thing on this pattern! Weird.
2. The drum pattern I recorded started very low and heavily equalised
with no trebles at all. When I change the preset drum kit (factory)
the volume has gone up and the eq sounds as it is supposed to do. I
switch back to the original drum set and everything seems okay. When
I restart the pattern from the first bar I have the same problem
again. I assume there is a controller event messing the mix up? How
can I get rid of it? I failed using the new edit pattern feature in
OS 1.18.
3. I saved my recorded patterns but the presets on the tracks still
change every time I restart the mp7. Why is that? When I change
patterns the presets do not change despite the different settings I
saved? Uuumh?

Anybody who knows whats going on here?

Heinrich

>>>Try reloading your current Multisetup, see if that works. I have to do
that whenmine does the same thing you mention. Interestingly enough, my
kick is also replaced by a HH :) <<<

>>>Sonar should have a MIDI List Editor, use that to look at the track
that's giving you problems. You'll be able to see all the MIDI info
happening in your pattern, including the offending CC message. <<<

3. I saved my recorded patterns but the presets on the tracks still change
every time I restart the mp7. Why is that? When I change patterns the
presets do not change despite the different settings I saved? Uuumh?

>>>You accidentally recorded some Program Changes in your pattern and
saved them. Everytime the pattern loops the new sounds get selected
right? Use the Event List Editor (or Sonar's List Editor) again to remove
any PC messages. <<<<

Select the Midi Button and turn the dail to SELECT PROGRAM CHANGE and
turn certain channels that are on to off. I had this problem also
when I had a certain sound selected and when I restart the pattern
everything would change. It piss me off for awhile so I started
playing with the settings. I had to go check again but I think how
you resolved that problem.

>>>If you do this though, you can't switch patterns or they won't load up
with their respective Presets. So it's a temporary fix at best. <<<

Try this to see if it works... Select the EDIT button and turn the
knob to Erase events and select CC# 7 VOLUME and erase the volume
events from those tracks that are changing. Doing this has solve alot
of volume issues for me.

>>>Try CC 74 too! <<<

Eric, Boomtap, thank you for your great help!!
Don´t you feel our gear keeps us writing bug reports instead of
making music?? (I´m not talking about the controller issue here...)

Nah, not at all. Yeah it can seem like this list is sort of a bug reporting forum, but only because we know that the techs regularly listen to us. Every peice of new electronic music equipment has issues, and eventually gets OS updates (if you're lucky!) over time. Sometimes it CAN be frustrating but it doesn't really slow me down when I'm working, I still write music. Personally I'm just thrilled that Emu supports us so well as it is, I mean look at all that Scott, Aaron, and the rest of the crew has helped us out with already.

For me, the XL-7 has really opened up new doors and ideas (vitual patch cord synthesis), while at the same time letting me do things I used to love (playing live). If I can turn around and help Emu a bit with some bug reporting so that others who DON'T have access to this wonderful forum can keep making music bug free, then it's a fair enough trade off to me. They take time out of their lives to help us by answering questions and working on new features we request, I don't mind taking a bit of time to help them. Even if it does mean they need to check their inbox more often ;)

Don't let some small bugs keep you from making music. None of the bugs we've found make it impossible to make some killer tunes with the Command Station.

Peace and beats,

I Is got the same Opinion As Realm!

noting is Imposible!

if u is thinking this box is giving you the Hard times.. instead
of,.. the high times Dont just keep it. Sample its sounds and sell it
to someone else.

I Personally know more than 1 person which would be willing to buy it
any time second hand ;)
