Here is the link to some tracks I have made with my MP-7. I would appreciate any feedback as I am still in the early stages of developing my sound and production. Don't be afraid to be negative, but please be specific. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/6/dj61music.htm All done completely through the MP-7 and then mildly compressed and gain adjusted for recording.

Just listened to first two tracks. Its sounds really good for early production stuff.A good basis to work on. Thx :Paul p.s -(regarding your earlier mail on presets) Be sure to concentrate on backing up your patterns/songs and presets. Esp if you´re about to embark on moving your presets around .It would be a shame to loose this work. See also my previous mail concerning "Proteum". --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "dj 61" <dj61@d...> wrote:

hello, listened to your tracks, they sound very good for early prodction work and your sound is not boring, you have a lot going on but you should inject more energy into it like increasing your bps and adding more hi hats and cymbals also mess around with your quantize menu. If you dont already have rom expansions, buy some it will definately help you develop your sound and also search in the kit presets for realistic and hard pounding kick and snare drums. Overall i'll be looking out for you work in the future smells like hit spirit. bless dj 61 <dj61@...> wrote: Here is the link to some tracks I have made with my MP-7. Thanks, I am planning to try proteum after I move this week and 1get everything reconnected. By the way, Kieth just sent out notice that he has added beats and arp support to proteum! 61 --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "phest2k" <tuttle@l...> wrote: > Just listened to first two tracks. Thanks, I seem to have trouble attaining a more aggressive sound. I would like to blame it on my generaly passive state of being, but I think your right more work with the hats and drum tweaks. I will work on it. I n the meantime, if anyone has any drum tabs they would like to share... 61 --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Ayoola Daramola <ayooladaramola@y...> wrote: > hello, > listened to your tracks, they sound very good for early prodction work and your sound is not boring, you have a lot going on but you should inject more energy into it like increasing your bps and adding more hi hats and cymbals also mess around with your quantize menu. Sorry I can't check out the songs you posted, but it's generally not too hard to make even a slow sounding tune more energetic with some simple drum programming. Try these: - Slide the main snares forward a bit (Scale/Shift Start Times -1 or -2) - Add a tempo synced delay to the HH's. - Use ghost snares to help add more movement. Ghost snares are just quieter hits of your main snare, played around the rest of the percussion parts. rEalm Thanks, I seem to have trouble attaining a more aggressive sound. Aha, the revalation I juat realized that with the second click of the preset chorus/delay it leads to what else... a delay with tempo sync. Somehow I have managed to work with the chorus and yet miss the delay. One small step for emu users one giant leap for Tom! While we are here with another click nontranspose may be selected on or off. What exactly is the effect of this as opposed to transpose? 61 --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, erik_magrini@B... wrote: > Sorry I can't check out the songs you posted, but it's generally not too > hard to make even a slow sounding tune more energetic with some simple > drum programming. It's not really a delay like that, it delays the start of the sound, it's
not a delay "Effect". You can press all of the Preset Edit keys multiple
times to get to more screens. ;)

Oh, so you were refering to using a seperate preset for the hats and using the effect sends for the delay, huh? Any recommended settings for this as a starting point? --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, erik_magrini@B... wrote: > It's not really a delay like that, it delays the start of the sound, it's > not a delay "Effect". Err...no sure where you got the Hats things from, not following you. The Delay Setting in the Preset menu adjust how long after you press a key that the sound will start. Anyway, yeah Effect 2 is always a delay of some sort on my machine, and Send 1 is always a Reverb (Warm or Perfect usually) rEalm Oh, so you were refering to using a seperate preset for the hats and using the effect sends for the delay, huh? I saw where my page had been linked to from here. Thanks for checking me out. Just a little disclaimer: Some of the tracks up now also make use of the Proteus 2500, a moog etherwave, an E-synth Dance E4 classic, and an aLex fx unit. There is a message board on the site please feel free to drop a note or leave a link to your page there. Also I love feedback, I take the good and the bad...Just try not to be vulgar if you post it to the board. Whoever you are, thanks again for checking it out. More were added in the past several hours. 61 --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "dj 61" <dj61@d...> wrote: > Here is the link to some tracks I have made with my MP-7.
