Switching Knob Functionlity on the Fly Via Sysex Commands
2003-12-28 by steve_the_composer
NOTE: This is a revised except from another post. I have placed it here under a separate subject (1) because it was really OT from the other thread and (2) to make the topic easier to find and discuss. ================================================================== It would seem from the Sysex manual (2.2) you can use sysex commands change the functionality of EACH/ANY of the 16 programable knobs on the fly. Evidently you can send sysex commands to change the following programable knob parameters: (1) CC# (1-119) (2) midi channel (0-31, -1 for basic channel) (3) destination (internal, external, both, sequencer). I suppose if someone has an external controller (e.g., foot controller, computer, etc.) that outputs sysex, you can use this to reassign the functionality of any or all of the programmable knobs without having to do a complete multisetup swap. Hope this solution either (1) solves some problem or (2) opens up new possibilities.
