Pattern switching question?

Ok, I'm too lazy to try this and I'm at work right now anyway, but... If you're playing back Patterns in Pattern mode, and then you switch to a new Pattern, are your volume and pan settings updated as well? Or do they remain the same as the last pattern? Just something I was curious about... rEalm (Happy Holidays everyone!)
