swing quantize...

swing quantize...

2003-11-11 by t_dubyah

I want to swing every other 1/8 note in my drum tracks. As I
unserstand it, swing adjust every other note from the quantize
setting... Correct. So to do this I would need to set my quantize to
1/8th notes. Correct? Well the problem comes in that I have ghost
hits and what nots on 1/16 notes. Is there any way I can swing every
other 1/8th without moving the 1/16s onto 1/8ths?
Also when going for a more jazzy feel would you only swing the
drums or swing the instruments as well. I would imagine most
musicians just play with the drummer, whether his beats are on or
off.

Well, if all else fails you can put the ghost notes on a separate
track and just not apply swing to that track. It may or may not
sound good that way.

The only way I can think of to do this, would be to copy the ghost notes
to a seperate track, apply the swing to the first track, then use the Copy
Tracks To Clipboard to join the two on a new track.

Simple enough. I should've thought it through that far. Thanks..

Hi,

I think it´s most easy to get a own key for the ghost notes, so you can
quantize it how you want.

Are you saying to put them on their own track, or are you refering
to something else?
