Arp random velocity

Arp random velocity

2003-11-05 by Christoph Kluxen

Hi,

another thought...

Is there a way to setup a random arp velocity?
Or in other words is there a way to bring the Arp velocity chord from the
Preset Patchcords in the regular
Patchcords?

That would be too nice.

The more I work with that machine, there are some things I don´t like, for
example why runs grid edit
always with the measures, it would be much easier if it stops, also it seems
to be not possible to filter icoming
note data out, so that it get not recorded in any track.

Thanx,
Christ

That's what Loop Mode is for. Check the manual on how to turn loop on and
off, and the shortcuts for setting the start and end point.

By random arp velocity do you mean:

(1) a random velocity for a specific arp?
or
(2) a specific velocity for a random arp?
or
(3) something different?

What do you want arp velocity to control and/or be controled by?

There may be a solution to what you are trying to do, but it is not
clear (at least to me) what you are tring to accomplish.

OK, that seems to be a more complicated question as I thought, so far I did
not really work much with arps,
so I don´t understand, what loop points have to do with it.

I meant
(1) a random velocity for a specific arp?

Usally I´m not too lucky with arps, cause they have no swing, so I try to
use it for external stuff to get
random volues as they trigger keysynced, so I want o edit the arp velocity
in the Preset Patchcords to realize
little bit random volume. (Don´t know if velocity played keeps there from
the arp, but....)
But I guess there`s no way,
Thanx,
Christoph

I do not know of a way that you can have arps transmit notes with
ranomized velocities to an external synth via MIDI.

However, iF you want some randomness on how your arps notes sound to
the ear from the E-Mu sound engine, you can use patchcords.

Basic idea:
Velocity is simply one controller that can change different
parameters (such as volume, envelope, filter, etc.)

You can use XfdRand, KeyRand1, and KeyRand2 in layer level patchcords
to "randomly" change volume, evevelope, filter, etc. for each note as
it is played.

For each note played (either by hand or by the arpeggiator) these
random functions will change the sounds internally.

I will try to come up with a set of steps to demonstrate this, if it
would help.

Hi,

thanx a lot, I know the way in the patchcords, so you don´t have to explain
that.

There´s no simple Midi Tracker for the Mac, there´s an Atari emulator for
Mac, but just no Midi in. F..., I think I´´ll get an Atari by ebay, I don´t
like sequencers like Cubase or Logic. They make me sick.
