Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Does anyone know of a shop from which someone from the UK can get 
cheap ROMs.  EMU won't ship here, cheapest I've found is Digital 
Village and that will put the POP ROM at over $230 (that's a 
reduction!)

Or, would anyone be willing to purchase some ROMs for me (probably 
three) and ship them to me?  I'll obviously pay up front and for all 
the shipping (I trust the list so I'll only go with a regular poster).

please reply to the list and not my listed email address - it's 
actually defunct (from the dim and distant past).  sorry if this 
clogs things up a bit.  i'll email my details (including my work and 
home email addresses) to whoever can help

Hi Joe,

You might check the E-mu auctions on ebay. There is a seller named 
audiomidigear that sells new ROM's for a very good price. I bought 
the Vintage Pro ROM from this company for $178US just before E-mu put 
ROM's on sale. Now they seem to have matched the E-mu sale price on 
most but not all ROM's. I see that they ship internationally so you 
might check them out. When a glitch in their system caused my order 
to be delayed they were very nice and made it up to me.

Doh!  For some reason i only looked on ebay for goods in the UK.  
Good plan (your man appears not to be around at the moment, but i'll 
certainly keep my eyes peeled)

I did a quick Ebay search using E-mu and ROM as my key words. Note 
the dash in E-mu. It came back with 16 returns. 11 by the store I 
mentioned. I could not make it find anything when searching by store 
name.

ah, the store only comes up under ebay.com, not under .co.uk, even 
when  you flag "items worldwide"

anyway, managed to pick up POP and Pure Phatt for about $118 and $125 
respectively (inc postage), which is effectively half the price of 
the cheapest I can get it in the UK. (like two thirds off retail 
price).

suppose i should get around to writing some music...

Glad to hear you got your ROMs sorted... I've been away from the list for
the last couple of days so I didn't get the opportunity to tell you that if
you phone E-MU in the US they will gladly send stuff to the UK.

Very good to hear that.  Luckily, the two ROMs I've bought so far 
have been roughly the same price as the EMU offer.

I do still have one slot left (and you never know, i might not like 
the POP or Pure/Mo Phatt)  Anyone know when the current EMU offer 
finishes?
