Techno Synth Const. Yard ROM

Techno Synth Const. Yard ROM

2003-10-22 by Greg

I think I may have gotten the on of the last ones that EMU had. I had
talked with direct on an offer for a different ROM that I had already
installed. So, to take adavntage of having a real person on the line,
I told them I would be interested in a buy 1 get one a half off deal.
Which the sales person had agreed to. When I wanted to get the TSCY
ROM there was some difficulty, but she came through. There was no
mention of the ROM being discontinued. But it was obviously out of
stock at EMU.

SO, now my XL7 is loaded with the TSCY, Beat Garden, Proteus ROM and
the stock XL7. I hardly do anything with my Karma anymore. I might
start using it for arps. Right now it is just a very expensive
controller.

If you can get a copy of TSCY, I'd get it. I have found it to be very
useful. I am making industrial EBM and electro gothic rock. The EMU
is basically my backline.

Greg,

I've have had mine since 1999 and I'm still very pleased with it.
It's in my P2K along with the factory Composer, Beat Garden and
Vintage ROM's. As soon as my protean Drum ROM ships, my XL-7 will be
done. It has the X-ROM, M-ROM and POP ROM in it. XL-7, MP-7, 2500
and PX-7 all in one box.

So right know you basically have two pop roms? Are the presets really
that different from one another?

BTW, I feel a little envy... I wish I had the Peter Siedlaczek rom to
max my XL-7 and next to it a Mp-7 maxed with the World, B3 and the ZR
(or protozoa) roms... That'd be a killer setup! I can almost feel the
32 mute/unmute buttoms at my finget tips...

Sort of, the POP and Composer, while they have the same instrument
datatbase, do have different presets. and arps were included on the
POP ROM.

That would be nice too. I travel with my XL when away on business
(to keep me sane)so the looks in the airports are great but why does
everyone always assume it's a beat box?:)

Re: Techno Synth Const. Yard ROM

This sounds so familiar. I bought the XL-7 the week it came out. For
a year it was loaded with the Sounds of the ZR, TSCY and Word
Expedition ROM's. I felt that the only thing missing was a good
orchestral ROM and I considered replacing TSCY with the PS
Orchestra. The XL-7 has gone with me on every vacation and many
business trips. It is a bit large but fits in my suitcase. I do
worry when it goes with my checked baggage. Now things are in a bit
of flux with new ROM's and I am trying to come up with a comfortable
spread. I have 11 ROM's split between the XL-7, P2500 and Virtuoso
2000. Right now the XL-1 is loaded synth based ROM's but I think I
like the idea of picking up PS Orchestra and going back to a
variety. With XL, ZR, World and Orchestra in one device I think I
would have the sounds for any song in a single box.

I get that with my ER-1 too, airport security are always wanting me to
turn it on and play it for them. Of course there's no speakers so I end
up having to spend too much time explainin this all to them :)
