Pure Phatt - If you don't have the Mo Phatt or MP-7.
Ensoniq Project - More HipHop sounds plus world sounds.
Proteus Pop - For your generic sounds. Great price on this one.
Vintage Collection - May seem an odd choice, but HipHop started
whith some of these sounds. You just need a different ROM to provide
you with more kits.

My understanding is that for unknown reasons they are not going to
post the World ROM but technically it is available.

There is. It's called another XL-7... =)

For as cheap as they are now, and the ability to MIDI sync them
together, it's like having a 32-track, 256-voice monster. Kinda like
havin' two turntables...

FS/TRADE: ROMless Planet Earth (was Re: [xl7] ROMS)

2003-11-01 by mark sottilaro

You say you want a ROM breakout box for more E-MU
ROMs? Look no furthur! I got the Planet Earth used
(in mint condition) from a friend of mine and loved it
so much I bought an XL-7 (getting rid of a Roland 307)

Anyway, it didn't make any sense to me to have the
World ROM in it's own box so I installed it in the
XL-7. Now I've got a ROMless Planet Earth that I'm
sure could be of use to someone, but just not to me at
this time. I figured I'd keep it around in case I
wanted to buy more ROMs, but with the 4 I have in the
XL-7, the Roland XV-5050 and the Korg MS2000 I have, I
think I've got all the sounds I could use for the next
decade.

Anyway, I've seen them going for $300 with ROM, and
the ROMs are now $129, so like maybe $129 plus
shipping? That way for $258 you've got a Planet Earth
(or any of the recent E-MU ROM boxes)

I'd also entertain a trade of music items of similar
worth (I play guitar/keys and do a lot of Mac based
DP4 recording) Software (max OSX only, MAS plugins
are the best for me) or any interesting gadget. I'm
in the SF bay area, but I'll ship to anywhere in the
U.S.

ROMS

2014-07-15 by craigbiz@...

Hi group!! Just a quick question - If I have two Xlead roms and install them in the 1 command station, does this mean that I should have double the storage space for pattens and presets?

Re: [xl7] ROMS

2014-07-15 by Michael Brien Lane

No, patterns and user presets are stored in FlashROM on the CS motherboard. Each ROM has its own presets, arp patterns, and samples. Two of the same ROM just means two of everything on the ROM and will probably confuse the system because of the identical ROM IDs.

Thanks Brian, yeah that's a shame, I've pretty much got not slots for new presets and I'm having trouble finding a copy of eloader for mac. That is really the only way to create space on the command station, am I right?

Re: [xl7] ROMS

2014-07-16 by Michael Brien Lane

The default user patches on the Command Stations are just copies of the ROM patches for the included ROM, so all 512 of them can be overwritten. Also, the default patterns can be freely erased, as they are saved in FlashROM.
