I like the piano better on the ZR. It is not really a bright piano
so if you want it for pop music on stage, it may not work. To me it
is very playable when I want to practice classical or ballads.
Neither ROM has many strings so it is hard to judge one over the
other in that department. I always liked the drums from the ZR
better than the Proteus Pop. Good percussion. As for the filler
sounds, I like the Proteus Pop better. It has the better pads and
synths. One disappointment with the ZR is the lack of the formant
filters that were in the Ensoniq MR/ZR synths. Some of my favorite
synth patches from the real MR/ZR used formant filters. They do not
transfer well to the Proteus.
