installing a ROM

installing a ROM

2003-09-15 by systemo2002

Hi,

Just tried to install the protozoa-ROM into my brand new XL7 ...

But, when I check for the ROM my XL-7 can't seem to recognize it and
it doesn't show into my little screen. I changed slots, I re-
installed serveral times, nut nothing seems to work.

Anybody familiar with this problem? What am I doing wrong (but it's
ssooooooooooo simple in fact, nothing can be done wrong ... )Or is
the bad news that the ROM/simm is messed up in some kind?

greetz,
Yuri
BTW : what was the solution for the humming sound in your headphone?

The most obvious thing to check is the ROM orientation. Look at the
factory ROM and check the notch position. The notch on the new ROM
should be in the same location.

Was there an instruction booklet that came with your ROM? If not
there is a .pdf in the files section.

So after you power everything back up(with the unit put back together
right?), tab over to the top right corner of the display, which in
most cases will default to the XROM, scroll once to the left (ccw)and
it should go to "user" and if you go right (cw) it should read the
next ROM that it sees installed.

On my P2K in this order are "user", "Composer", "TSCY", "Beat"
and "VROM". On the XL-1 it goes "user", "X-Lead" and "Phatt" and the
XL-& is as follows: "user", "XROM" and "MROM"
