MP7 MANUAL/ OS QUESTION /PLZ HELP

MP7 MANUAL/ OS QUESTION /PLZ HELP

2003-09-15 by laker482

Hi,
I just purchased an MP7 off of ebay and it has OS 1.0 loaded on.
According to the EMU website if I understand correctly I can't get
the latest OS update from E-Loader through USB because USB is only
supported from a subsequent OS upgrade. So I first have to get a
MIDI connection in order to get the latest operating system?

Also, How do i reset the machine so it has the original factory
settings, since i got it off ebay i think theres some settings, stuff
thats been altered and i just want it to be clean, on the EMU website
knowledge base they have a page on how to do it but it says it will
remove all factory patterns or something?.. wat does that exactly
mean.. its still going to have all the sounds right? any
clarification would be appreciated

Lastly, the only things i got was the mp7 and the power cord. I was
wondering if theres anywhere I can find an original EMU MP7 physical
manual in the binder form. When I called EMU at first they denied
ever having a manual for it and that it was always just in digital
form.. I had to speak to another more competent person and explain
that Ive seen pictures of the actual manual from ebay and read
reviews about it etc , I dont know if its true or not but he says now
they dont do the physical manual anymore and its only on CD now in
the PDF form. I found it on the website, but to have to print all
380 something pages out and having to thumb through that is a major
hassle, does anyone know where I can find an original manual or does
anyone have one they would be willing to sell to me? And other than
the manual is the E-Loader software for MIDI connection the only
other thing thats included in the package when the MP7 is bought new?

Sorry for the long post but the EMU support really sucks and I don't
know where else to get any answers

Thanks,
Kiren Gopal

Please check out the faq section here, those things you ask are in
there...new os, resetting to factory specs, etc. i found that faq
section very useful when i was a new xx-7 owner. As far as the manual
is concerned, i'm not sure what the deal is...anyone here know if the
binder manual is packaged with new units only? so if you got a second
hand unit w/out hard copy, your only option would be pdf? i got the
manual w/ my unit so i am curious bout this...if ever i lost mine and
wanted another hard copy.

So I first have to get a MIDI connection in order to get the latest
operating system?

>>>Yes, you'll need a MIDI port in order to do the upgrade. There's a
couple of cheap ways to approach this though, either get an game port MIDI
adaptor or just buy a cheap 1x1 USB interface. I think M-Audio sells one
for only $40 now. ,<<

Also, How do i reset the machine so it has the original factory settings,
since i got it off ebay i think theres some settings, stuff thats been
altered and i just want it to be clean, on the EMU website knowledge base
they have a page on how to do it but it says it will remove all factory
patterns or something?

>>>Check the FAQ in the files section of this group, there's a whole
section on how to do this and what it all means. <<<

Lastly, the only things i got was the mp7 and the power cord. I was
wondering if theres anywhere I can find an original EMU MP7 physical
manual in the binder form.

>>>If you take it some place like Kinko's, they can print and bind it for
you for not much more than $10. Probably cheaper than ordering the manual
anyway, and if you print the latest PDF version (revision G) you'll get a
more up to date copy too. <<<

Sorry for the long post but the EMU support really sucks and I don't know
where else to get any answers

>>>Sorry you're having such bad luck, but IMO EMu supprt is one of the
best in the business, as I'm sure many list members here will attest to.
