SKB Case for XL/MP-7

SKB Case for XL/MP-7

2001-12-18 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

I think this might work:

It's only $102.95 US too, not too bad for SKB gear. Anyone know the exact
dimensions of a Command Station, with the black end caps on?

It's in inches. They have it listed on their site but I had a
pullout flyer in Remix Magazine that had the dimensions on the back
cover.

This is the documument that is on E-MU's website:

Thanx, I was looking in the spec section of the manual but it wasn't in
there. That link was what I needed, much appreciated!

20.1"W x 10.5"D x 5.25"H

Which means that SKB case won't work :(

Budget Case for XL/MP-7

2001-12-19 by albert_thorn_audio

I have to say that there is an excellent low-cost solution to this
problem. I prefer my XL7 with the end caps on, so I bought a
horrible old yellow hard-shell suitcase from Goodwill ($7). I cut
some old packing foam ($0) and wedged it in. If you cut the foam
slightly oversized, it will stay in place without tape or adhesive.
Place the XL7 in the case and away you go (it fits perfectly in many
medium-sized suitcases). This solution has the added advantage of
theft prevention: thieves go for the nice SKB cases and don't even
notice the old clunky suitcase. Sure, the SKB cases will probably
protect your Command Station better if you toss it from a moving
train, but I would wager that the Goodwill alternative works just as
good in any real-world gigging situation.

If anyone really wants to spend $100 on a hardshell case, send me an
email with your credit card # and I'll put together one of these
fashionable alternatives and have it shipped to you in time for
Christmas... Throw in another $20 and I'll write XL7 on the side with
a magic-marker for ya'. :)
