Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Hallo all,
The first impressions of my new mp7 are positive.
a very flexible, robust unit with brilliant sound quality!
Now I have an annoyance with grid record mode. So here goes with the 
user group.
I couldn´t seem to find any refs to my problem in the forum or in the 
manual :!

Problem:
I´d like to be able to jump in and out of grid record mode whilst 
performing live. However, it seems that I have to stop or pause the 
seqencer to reactivate grid record mode. 
This don´t seem to be the case with realtime record mode which can be 
activated/deactivated/activated whilst the sequencer´s continuously 
playing.
a)Is this a bug? 
b)is there a niffty workaround (key combination)?
c)is there some other, obvious explanation that I´ve overlooked?

I´d appreciate any feedback on this one

press play and record simultan to get in grid record, important feature,

While playing, press and hold play then hit record.  This was a
somewhat new feature, so you'll need one of the more recent OSes. 
Download 2.0 if you haven't already...
