Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

I had a heckuva time trying to download the new O/S for the XL-7!

But it finally got done and I want to share what we had to do to get it to 
work.

Apparently the E Loader program does not like PCs with Win98 or Win Me.  On 3 
computers with those environments, the E Loader programs simply did not work 
correctly at first.  It froze or hung or worked a little once and then froze.

The solution was to use the Sun system Java program included under utilities 
on the CD and uninstalling and re-installing the E Loader program after 
loading the Sun Java.  Loading the Sun Java without uninstalling did not seem 
to help.

After adding the Sun Java and re-installing E Loader, the Sound Blaster Value 
Live sound coard STILL did not receive any request for the new O/S fromthe 
XL-7.  Fortunately this computer also had a Layla digital sound card with 
midi in and out and THAT worked for some reason.  Why?

I don't know.

Apparently the E Loader program is very touchy about Windows, Java and the 
Sound Card.  You've got to get everything just right or it will not work.

Also the instructions for downloading the 1.18 OS are not really complete.  
After downloading there are a couple of maneuvers that one has to make on the 
XL-7 that are not mentioned on the written instructions.  A small detailed 
addition to the instructions would help a lot of people I'm sure and it would 
cost nothing to provide.
