Pulling your hair out

Oops, forgot to add that you need to go into the MIDI menu and turn
Rechannelize Input to "On".

i dont even see that option in the midi menu...

i do see these:

keyboard output, Knobs output midi, Transmit midi clock, Merge midi
in to out, midi enable, recieve program change, midi sysex, etc
etc...to midi mode-change

is this "rechannelize input" option supposed to be available in my os
version? (1.01)?

Nope. you need OS 2. In the meantime, you'll have to change the midi
channel on your keyboard everytime you want to record onto a new track.
Ie, if you want to record on Track 2, set up your keyboard so it transmits
on channel 2. If it has an ALL or OMNI setting, that would work better.
What kind of keybaord is it again?

it's a casio wk-1630 (i know...crappy lol) and it doesnt have an omni
or all option (PLEASE tell me the rechannelize option in OS 2.0 isnt
reliant on this)

Not at all, it's a way to get around the lack of those features. Instead
of having to change the MIDI channel your Casio transmits on each time you
change tracks in the XL-7, it would just remap that data automatically for
you. You're only option now is manually change the channel on the Casio
each time you change tracks, at least until you get OS2.
