Hi , Are you using a valid instrument definition (.ins file) ? Or simply the right one ? Are you defining correctly which instrument definition you wanna use with each midi tracks in SONAR ? We do need more details before one can help you with efficiency !! (MSB for user's bank access is 0 for all EMU modules, that's why you can get it even with a generic .ins file or a wrong one....but every rom module has its own ID number, for example XL7 MSB is 14, BEAT GARDEN MSB is 67 and so on , so you have to use the right definition file with the midi track where you want all your sounds listed !!) Hope this helps in some way...... Good luck ! XROM

I'm sorry about being so vague earlier. I'm kinda of new to this so bare with me if you can. What I'm trying to do is patch into my rom(s) if possible. B4 I put in the new rom i was working strictly of off my user setting and all of its banks and the user settings when right out of the box is the same as the xl-7 rom right. So now I have a new rom with new sounds but when I go to Sonar I can only control my user setting and not my new set of sounds. I want Sonar to switch from my xl-7 rom to the pure phatt rom through at will. Strictly using my command station as a slave unit. I hope this explains my situation a little better. Help me please!!!!!!!

This means you are using a wrong instrument definition file, in order to access XL7 & PURE PHATT sounds in SONAR you need to use their relevant Cakewalk intrument definition files and affect them to the desired midi track !! Now what you should do is : -1 : go to the files section of this Group and search for the Cakewalk .ins File named P2k_all, download it... -2 : Launch SONAR and select the first MIDI track where you want your sounds listed > right Click on it > Choose TRACK PROPERTIES in the Pop up menu, you should get the Track properties Window > Click on INSTRUMENTS you will see the Assign Instruments Window > Click on DEFINE then Click on IMPORT , select your P2K_all instrument definition....then select XL7 and Pure Phatt... -3 : Now back to the ASSIGN INSTRUMENTS WINDOW where you click on MIDI track 1 (left side) then either XL7 or Pure Phatt (Right side) up to you , doing this you affect a midi track with the desired instrument definition (say for example XL7, so now you will have access to XL7 banks on MIDI track 1).......... Repeat step 3 for all other MIDI tracks -4 : Back to the arrange Window choose channel, bank & patch for every midi channel and TADAAA !! look at your XX7 LCD it should move accordingly (I hope for you !)If it doesn't.....Buy yourself a Xylophone because the Gods are against you (at least the ones that deal with computers!) May fortune be with you ! XROM

One last thing I forgot to mention , very important, when you right click on a midi track and get the TRACK PROPERTIES window, always check that the pop up menu named BANK SELECT METHOD is set to normal, if it's not, you will only be able to select user patches even with the right instrument definition !!! Again good luck ! XROM
