I like the RS7000 as a sequencer because 

1) it has real time rec (which I use most of the time), grid rec, and 
step rec...The XL also has real time and step but to make a loop you 
have to "paste" it in a clipboard etc. The RS you just set the length 
of the loop for the track and it loops indefinently.( while having 
different length loops on difernt tracks)

2)You can set swing, midi delay, beat strecth, and loop remix 

3) If you quantize your tracks, the RS has more options. 

4) The RS has a sampler, which your samples can intergrate with the 
rest of the mix perfectly. 

5) The screens bigger
