Thanks SO MUCH for the reponses.  

The OMS tip hit the nail on the head.  In the 6 or 7 years I've been 
using FreeMIDI, this is the 1st time it has unsuccessfully emulated 
OMS.

Using OMS is a crucial detail (for Mac users)--perhaps worthy of 
inclusion in the next FAQ--which has already proven EXCELLENT.  I've 
printed a hard copy and taped it the wall in my studio.

Thanks again for turning a "head scratcher" into "slam dunk!"

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
