I have been able to track down an MP-7 Command Station brand new in OZ. I love the RS7000 sequencer and slice/sampling facilites but.... The need for a more exotic sound set it desirable and I know these babies have syntheis parameters comming out of the proverbial wazzoo :P. I would get the MP-7 then get a World Rom and a Vintage Rom. I already have the new Electribe MX and SX-1's on order so sampling etc is already covered (I program original stuff and do minimal sampling anyway - so something compact would be better for me). VA/Analog stuff is taken care of with a Elevata ,MicroQ and Pulse. I'm using a Yammie hardware daw. How has OS 2.0 help stabilise any previous bug problems. I would have bought the command station originally but these problems put me off. That said I really need a unit that can be programmed and customised to my liking sonically from the ground up. Secondly I need to get out of the living hell that is pentatonic and pythagoran key scaling - the RS7000 does no other musical notation scales which is a real pity. I also need a rocksteady H/W sequencer that is capable of handling some pretty left of centre polyrythmic/time signature stuff. A main strength of the RS7000 IMHO - the fact that each track can be a variable length in a pattern and have any meter is a huge compositional bonus. Any users here ever used both units? I like an honest opinion of the strengths of this unit for full compositional sequencing. Will the unit sync to both Midi Clock and MMC ? Is the sequencer fairly intuitive and easy to use. Is pattern chain mode glitch free. What is the soundset like "as standard in an MP-7". Does hive enough raw synth waveform material to get pretty experimental with? Sound quality - drums ,percussion and bottom end on bass parts. Strings ,pads and the like. I don't use computers and don't want too. At the moment there are a few glaring omitions in pattern chain to song convert on the RS7000 and a convoluted scene and mute track programming implementation, which whilst powerful is tedious to use and slows down my whole song writing process. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I do not own a PC at the moment so I'd have to make sure the unit can preloaded with OS 2.0 out the store. Do you feel this would be a wise move. In a rutt compositionally with the RS7000 and looking at the options. This one looks like a fairly good one. So what do you think ? Cheers OSCar
