After some unstable usb access having to do with a failed driver installation and reinstallation (Win98SE), I went back to ground level 0. I THINK I went into Device Manager, removed the drivers, removed the unpacked e-loader/driver software, rebooted without the usb hookup, unzipped the software again, and did everything over again step-by-step (triple checking everything as I went along). I decided the 1st installation didn't take for some reason; the second one without undoing what the first installation did gave the illusion of taking--hence the unpredictable results; and the need to return to scratch set things right. I believe someone else on this board or another board mentions a similar process for XP. Hope this helps.
