Yes, it's really sweet to have the developers
here, active, and providing help as well as listening to us.

Interesting - personally, I would like to see
>more< integration with external sequencers. I see the unit as a
live extension of my studio, that I can take out to clubs.

Yes, don't forget about this. You can set up a
separate patch for each of your drum notes and still have all of your A
channel (and most of B) free for other stuff.

This is really where music is going these days.
The more 'live' looping, as opposed to 'arrangement', the more powerful
arrangements can be.

Yeah. That's on the Xmas list :>

It was a late night as expected. The ztar and the xl-7 work really well
together. Pretty much drum and bass in a box. You could keep a crowd
entertained with nothing more.
The recording section isn't completely designed for such work but it
does the trick, provided you know what you want to do before you start.
I kept reaching for an 'undo' button, since not everything
I play is worthy of being recorded, but couldn't find one.
Using the 'cut' command stops the sequencer, which
is unfortunate. I would assume it is a design limitation, since copy and paste
don't stop anything. There is probably a way to do this that I missed.
Is there?
I found some strange stuff going on in the song section last night (it
was the first time I really checked it out) by selecting certain patterns, I
could get the LEDs to all go on, and then stay 'enabled'
and 'lit' regardless of the tracks actually available. I was able to
repeat it.
I also noticed something else - when two channels are
pointed to the same drum kit, they are both affected by controller changes. Why
is that? I had the "hybrid" kit on channels 2 and 5, and regardless of which of
the two tracks was 'active,' twisting the quick edits - filter tweaks etc,
affected drums playing from >both< tracks. (The tracks were set up to point only to their respective channels, rather
than all)
;
Well, another weekend approaches, with it's temptation to
lock myself in my room with my toys, away from normal people. Excellent! Thanks
emu :>
