Unfortunately, there's no way to set duration (or "gate") in grid edit 
mode.  There is in step edit (the gate parameter as a percentage of step 
resolution).  There are two new duration features, one in note/event edit and one in duration scale/shift.

In note edit there's a duration field which you can edit.  Note that you 
could stay on the duration field and still scroll through events by 
holding enter and turning the encoder dial.

I wanted to put gate into grid edit, but there simply wasn't any room on 
the screen!  =)
