Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

I thought one of the Emu guys had said that you would be able to change 
Note Duration while recording in Grid Mode with this new OS.  Anyone know 
how to do that, I didn't see it in the Addendum?  Is it set the same way 
as velocity is, by pressing (and holding in this case) the pads?

Also, about the new way to select your next pattern while playing back. Is 
it the same thing as pressing Edit while the LED display is set to Pattern 
mode?  Are there any differences between the two methods?  I thought that 
way was pretty easy, just wondering about the reason for the change and 
redundancy... 

One more.  In the addendum, there's a section at the end about how Ticks 0 
and 1 are reserved for Pattern info, and user info.  It mentions that Tick 
1 is where users would be able to place their own set up information that 
wouldn't transmit when the pattern looped (cool idea!).  But, what kind of 
info would a user want to place in tick 1 that's different from what would 
already be saved in Tick 0?  Set up information for external gear on MIDI 
B?  Just curious what was in mind with this feature.
