Thre are no built in drum loops in the xx-7's  I would personally say 
that the drums are good in both the MP and XL, and it ultimately 
depends on the style of music you're producing.  I produce dnb and 
find a need to have both roms.  You can pretty much edit anything you 
want with EMU's engine....  ASDR (attac, sustain, decay, release) 
envelopes can be set up for volume, filter, lfo's, pitch, you name 
it.  start points can be set as well.  you can layer up to 4 voices 
per preset and also layer up to 4 presets together (i think, I've 
never gotten that far :))  

It's an awesome machine, just buy one dammit
