Re: Bad manuals

2003-04-24 by psychogroove1

OK, Let's play nice. In E-Mu's defense, it is really hard to write a
manual.

In a perfect world the writer would have weeks with the FINAL VERSION
OF the equipment before they had to write the manual. That would give
them time to feel the flow of working with this cool new toy. Shake it, Twe=
ak it,
get to know it, not just about it, and write a wonderful manual. One
that reads more like an adventure through this product rather that a group =
of
arranged facts. I always liked the useful tutorials, lots of little ones t=
o
learn not just where a menu parameter is, but how to tickle it the right wa=
y.
Unfortunately back here on our dopey planet, you write the manual and
send it off to be printed before the product is even completed in many
cases. Yes those fun loving addendums are the bastard step children of the =

lastcool and nifty changes to the device that took place while the manual w=
as
offbeing printed and bound and stuff. You have to send these manuals out
weeks ahead of time. Hopfully Procuct X will be working and in stock to
ship when the manuals and the addendums from Kinkos arive.

It's hard to write good manuals. :'(

It's always way easier in the other world, not here.

Call me Psycho but I've been there a few timesÂ….Anti-Fun.
