In short, I think the best way to address the FX situation is to have a master FX preset set up for each of your patterns. The sends on each channel are saved with the pattern, but that's just saying which FX bus each channel is to use, not the actual FX or the amounts. Also, having a master FX preset on each pattern (or for ALL your patterns, depending) will let you control the FX sends in realtime by assigning preset patchcords in your preset. I have multiple presets like 'delay/distortion2' and 'room2/chorus5' depending on what sounds good with which pattern. The send busses are another thing altogether. Because I have an outboard FX unit, I use send2(sub1) as an FX send/return. It works out like: send1: dry send2: outboard sampler/FX send3: FX1 send4: FX2 You can add as much or as little of each of your master FX to either send3 or send4. Typically I have my snare on send3 for delay FX or reverb and whatever bass or lead on send4. Remember: While the FX are either set up in the global or with a master preset, the sends are saved in each pattern, even though they are also available via the global menu. I think I got all that right. Also, see my previous post on how to hook up FX knobs on a preset to the programmable knobs.
