Hi there yahoo group this is actualy a post from mikexl7 being posted by my good friend Ba. I have been trying to post this question for over a week now but i cant for some unknown reason. Yahoo is messed for me at the moment. What you are about to read is the reply I got from emu tech support. The second section is what I sent them. As you can see for yourself I did not get my question answered. So i am begging you Aaron or Scott please let me know if i can use the Pocket Dial from doepfer to get around the problem of jumping values in my live proformance. I have emailed emu and deopfer and I still have no answer to this queston. Dear Michael, There are several things to consider as it concerns this question. 1) All Proteus family products and EOS samplers support realtime control of many features *(this you know). There is no way to bypass the INITIAL controller levels set in the preset as these will setup the preset's unique 'sound characteristics'. 2) As for POCKET CONTROL... I can only state that the Proteus family of products...including the Command Stations, will support standard realtime CC data. As for the POCKET CONTROL issues of 'feedback' I cannot answer this... I suppose the POCKET CONTROL would use sysex to request the status of a controller??? I don't know that one. This in mind we can only recommend standard midi controllers and if the POCKET CONTROL is sending standard CC data then it should work. 3) If the preset is not to your liking...then edit it so that it will work better in the context of performance. I.e., set you INITIAL CONTROL levels to 000 and then rely on the quick edit or program knobs to 'set it up' realtime like and older analog synth. That or use the presets the way they are now and modify your performance to match the abilities of the instrument. Regards; E-MU Systems Inc. I am going to paste in sompthing that I have read it says it better than I can. "POCKET CONTROL that is equipped with 16 rotary potentiometers. This enables a jump- less change of parameters provided that the device or software controlled by POCKET DIAL features data feedback of the new starting data after a preset change as POCKET DIAL needs the starting values of theparameters of the new preset. Another possibility is the increment/decrement control of the parameters in question. In this case the POCKET DIAL does not "know" the absolute values of the parameters but transmits only inc/dec data to the device/software. Only devices that features the data feedback or inc/dec control should be controlled by POCKET DIAL." Ok that summes it up pretty will I thought. So will I get smooth flowing CC changes when using the pocket dial? If not I would love to see this changed so that one could use this type of controller with the command stations. Other that or have it set up so that the pots on the command station dont do anything till the current value is met. And then have the controller take hold. I don't want to sound like a pest but using the real time edit knobs they way they are in a live show is very anoying at best, and often just not an option due to the looming sudden changes. My music relies very much on live tweaking of the synth. Sorry for the long email but I can't stress the imprtance of this to me enough. Thank you very much for your time. I look forward to your reply very much. Mike Goodwin
