Re: [xl7] Re: What is operating this thing live CALLED?

Live Performance Art sounds better, but is technically redundant, right? Plus, I am not sure that making music come out of speakers is "performance art" unless the term encompassed anything. Usually performance art is more along the lines of a play that is not a play, a musical piece that isn't too traditional. art that is not static, i.e. that has to be performed.

The whole Live PA thing sounds wierd to me. I always thought that the idea of someone or two or three or 17 or 65 people getting togethter to play instruments in front of people had been defined for a few thousand years as SHOW or concert or recital or just plain performance.

Live PA is kind of self depricating if you ask me. First of all, no one knows what it means, but it has a insular flavor to it, i.e. if you know you are cool, so if you don't know, don't ask and feel uncool. And it also somehow seems to imply that the performers aren't really playing, rather they are just doing . . .

I would prefer to call myself a musician than a live pa artist
