To the Emu guys mainly WHERE's the OS? No just kidding, I have a real question:
I have a Motu 1224 and if I set the XL7 to send AES signal instead of spdif I can feed the AES digital input on the 1224. However, in order to not have noise, I have to set the 1224 to let the XL7 be THE clock master (since the xl7 has no clock in).
My question is: since the clock in the 1224 is apparently supposed to be pretty good (motu claims it is better than the clock in the 324 pci card interface which is another available option), how does the clock in the XL7 fare in comparison. Sound on Sound mag has me up in arms (not really) about the need for a solid jitter free clock and that is why good studios spend the big bucks on external master clocks. Of couse since the XL7 has no clock in, the only way to not have it be the master clock is to send it through a sample conversion unit, etc.
So, how is emu willing to say the clock in the Command Stations are? better than the motus? If so, can you prove it?
Thanks (figured you might be bored after working so hard on the OS) :)
