Thanks Erik, I work for a music store and will defiantly try it before I
buy it! For some reason we don't carry the unit, but I will be special
ordering it. I like the boards that we do carry (MK6, Halo, Pk6 and XK6)
as well as the proteuos.

The sequencer will definitely be more basic than what you're used to in
Sonar. However the XX-7's really shine at letting you get ideas down
quickly, without having to stop to enter different record modes, or
change
your sounds. The only real downside currently, is that the editing
options aren't very compreshensive compared to say an RM1x, mc909, or
the
MPC series. However, there's a new OS on the way that will go some ways
towards alleviating this.
If I had to sum up the XX-7 sequencer, I'd say that it may not have
every
single bell and whistle that some of the other hardware seqeuncers have.
But once you learn it, it's way more intuitive and faster to record and
manipulate your ideas. As always, your best bet is to try before you
buy
if you can.

Subject: [xl7] RE:MP7 sequencing
[Rick King] I am considering buying MP7 I love the sounds and everything
about the machine, but I am wondering about the sequencing. Can anyone
describe what it is like and whether it is similar to other sequencers
from other workstations or what? I use Sonar as my primary sequencer
now, but I prefer to use a hardware based one. In the past I have used a
motif, a triton and several ensoniq wkstns, prepared my tracks on them
and then recorded them to the computer to add my vocal tracks. I am
looking to do the same with this. I perform Christian hip-hop mostly.
Thanks.
