In the last month I made some nice patterns and finished with some nice sound and rythms without arranging them as a song. Now I have two options to follow, first I could make longer and shorter patterns to switch, that would be a lot of work as I want to change tracks playing, change volumes and record some cc., besides it`s hard for me, cause I like playing with sounds freely without saying after that I``ll cut that track at 1.04 and that at 7.03.73. Second option would be using song mode, but that way of programming is quiet difficult because getting now again repeating pattern structures that are difficult to program if they repeat again. >>>I know what you're saying, trying to organize stuff for live use can really drive person mental. You want to have the repeatability of a song (ie, it's familar eacht iem you play it back) but at the same time you're trying to leave yourself as much room as possible for improvisation. Tough call, but I personally find it works best to keep everything in Pattern mode. Yeah, you might have to switch patterns a lot more often than you'd like to, but in the end I think it is the most flexible option. << It would be nice to get the songs you arranged back as a pattern, the only way to do it is to record them with a software sequencer. I think it`s still the best way is still to switch patterns manual as I don`t want to sequence it with software, cause in a live situation that would be 2 computers and I think it`s all getting too system crash possible, what? (my english...) >>>English isn't your first language? :) Yeah, no need to have two computers up there, that would definitely only add the problems most likely. ,< I read some month ago that you would get the patterns via e-loader down toyour computer to edit them there easier, or what do you do with them? I think it`s a good way to edit volumes on an own multitrack as it`s easier to get back to a constant volume. >>>Personally, I make up most of my XL-7 stuff right in the box first. Once I get a good pattern happening there, I'll E-Load it into SX and use that program to draw in more intricate drum fills, or to change randomly vary the velocity, draw in controller ramps, etc. All of the stuff that's currently (hint hint) not the easiest to do on just the XL-7. As for matching volumes, you could do that via software too, though personally I think that's one thing that's easier to do right on the XL-7 (provided it's playing back when you save your changes). <<< rEalm [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
