Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

In Song Mode, you might want to play with Song Edit Menu settings, 
particularly the ones that define the Event Source.  Sounds like you have 
those set to the wrong things (probably should change all of them to 
"Patterns").  Press Song Edit, then scroll until you see:

EVENT SOURCE:
tempo:  Song Events Only

You can now cursor over to the tempo field and change this to show all the 
different things you can set for the Song.  I don't know how you made your 
song, so I can't tell you what they should be, but try different 
variations of those to see if it works.  If you have the latest manaul, 
this is all on Page 100 BTW.
