Well I'm not sure but it sounds like what happens with my e6400 Ultra... When editing samples the start and end times can be adjusted with the pitch bend wheel via MIDI. So if you're trying to edit the loop points of a sample on your e5000 while playing a sequence from the xx-7, and have pitch bends in the sequence, that would cause the problem you described. As far as I know there is no way to disable this "feature," you just need to stop play on the xx-7 or take out the pitch wheel messages when editing the samples. That's my guess...
