I will toss in my cents here. I do not own the 307, but do own the Roland 505. I would say that the XL/MP box is a lot more flexible in almost every way. I also think the sounds are a lot better, and the fact that the sound set is expandable via ROM just blows it away. I don't attempt the kinds of music you list, so your mileage may vary.
