??? mc-307 + es-1 vs. emu mp-7 or RS7000

2001-11-09 by hhuent@gmx.de

Help me, guys, I`m stuck! I cannot demo the Emu mp-7 nor the Yammie
RS7000
I own a roland mc-307 and a korg es-1 (I liked the sounds, patterns
and grid recording better than on the rm1x - checked them side by
side.) I do hiphop, jazz, r&B, Latin, need good drums and some
realistic sounding voices too. Now I wonder if the mp-7 or some other
alternative could be a competitor for my mc-307, because I feel the
drums have a punchy sound, but the feel of the groove is
somehow "stiff"...
1. Would you switch to the rs7000 to have it all in one box with
sampler, efx etc. or go for the Emu mp-7 for its better sounds,
usability, velocity-sensitive keyboard but weak efx-section. The
problem is, I can“t demo the gear in my area, only orders... :-( 2.
Is it an easy to use all-in-one composition station, easier to work
with than - say - the rm1x or the mc-307? 3. Is the sound quality
above the mc-307? 4. Is the grid recording as well implemented as on
the mc-307? 5. Is the efx-section to limited because of its few efx-
types, that does not handle every track on its own? 6. Are there
realistic sounding voices like piano, upright bass, brass - I heard,
the mophat-engine does not include them.

mp-7 owners, mc-307 owners, please? Any educated opinion would be
welcome.

Peace

Heinrich
