Actually this is a problem that a lot of rotory encoders have. I'm not saying this will work for the XX7's but I have been using a special electronics friendly contact cleaner, DeOxit, which was suggested on the Yamaha A5000 list. The A5000 is infamous for having the rotory encoders start flipping out. After spritzing a little on under the knos my A5000 works fine now. Another suggestion on another list is to put a small circular piece of lens cleaning fabric on under the rotary to keep dust from getting into it. The basic problem is that the encoder is oxidizing and the contacts inside aren't making proper connections. Don't know if this will help. Andre P.S. DON'T use DeOxit on the knobs, it will dissolve the grease they use to make them feel firmer. -----Original Message----- From: Jean Kergutuil [mailto:jean.kergutuil@...] Sent: Tuesday, February 11, 2003 12:42 AM To: xl7@yahoogroups.com Subject: R\ufffdf. : [xl7] Never mind my stupid post: Why the XX-7 is worthless piece of crap. About the weird buttons and data wheels, perhaps I'm just unlucky to get two XL-7's which doesn't work well. I guess I should concider sending the XL-7 back again to get it repaired. >> I have the same problem with the data wheel. it's really a piece of .... the numbers seem to jump on their own !!!
