Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

I'm trying to find an answer for a friend. He says that Logic won;t 
play the MP-7 when he tries to record but it will do it when he 
presses play on Logic.  What can he do to get Logic to start the MP-7 
when record is activated on Logic?
