LOL, I like the "without all the stuff to the left of it" remark.   Why 
not just use the data wheel?  Same thing, more or less...

I wish someone made a small midi pitch slider like the 1200's pitch slider
where you could set the tempo and then slide it +/- 8 or 10% - much like 
the
MC-909/307 control but without all the stuff to the left of it =).
